This granola recipe is the crunchiest homemade granola you will ever make because of a super secret ingredient!
2 sticks of butter
1 cup of oil (I use coconut oil or a neutral tasting oil like avocado oil)
1 cup of brown sugar
1 cup of honey
2 pounds of old fashioned oats
one box of grape nuts
1 cup of pecans
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons cinnamon
In a saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar and honey. Heat over medium low until butter is melted and the ingredients are incorporated.
In a very large bowl (or 2 bowls if you don't have one large enough), combine oats, grape nuts, pecans, salt and cinnamon.
Pour the butter/sugar mixture over the dry ingredients and mix until evenly coated.
Bake in a couple large roasting pans at 325 for 25 minutes, stirring halfway through.
Optionally, you can remove a cup of the oats and add an equal amount of nuts, seeds, wheat germ or coconut flakes.
If you want to add raisins or other dried fruits, do so after the granola has baked and cooled.
